Kathamide contains ketoconazole which belongs to the class of drugs called Imidazole antifungals. Ketoconazole is a broad spectrum, synthetic antifungal agent with fungistatic activity. It is effective against dermatophytes, yeasts and other pathogenic fungi. Ketoconazole inhibits the biosynthesis of Ergosterol in fungi and changes composition of other lipid components in the membrane of sensitive fungi.
